Patton Analytics & Consulting LLC

 
  • Provide consulting services to in-house law departments and law firms for technology platforms including: matter management, business intelligence, ebilling, and project management.

  • Scope, execute, and manage Legal Operations projects and programs on behalf of clients.

  • Pitch data analytics, operations management, and process improvement work to potential clients.

  • Create offerings demos by generating random datasets based on modeling realistic business conditions and visualizing analyses using Business Intelligence platforms such as Microsoft PowerBI and Tableau.

  • Refurbished and provisioned a decommissioned server back into service to host applications and file storage.

  • Deploy and manage services including Apache Superset, Apache2, OpenProject, WeKan, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB using native installs and virtualized container platforms such as Docker and Snap.

  • Co-managed a team of 15 Data and Statistical Analysts distributed across the United States with an average caseload of approximately 200 legal exposure analyses per month.

  • Responsible for strategic planning, process optimization, training and recruitment, and technology adoption for the team.

  • Propelled the team’s revenue from approximately $3MM in 2018 to $8MM in 2020.

  • Coordinated with counsel, IT staff, and eDiscovery personnel regarding client data extraction, process, and analysis.

  • Created visualizations and dashboards that allowed users to intuitively understand results and model alternative scenarios based on potential legal arguments and likelihood of prevailing.

  • Developed new products including: claimant history database, partial unemployment eligibility forecaster, and sentiment tracker for unionization campaigns.


Walmart

 
  • Managed a section within the Legal Department, consisting of 15 – 25 in-house staff members and on-site legal services providers.

  • Supervised day-to-day operations for company’s legal hold processes across the company’s entire litigation profile.

  • Implemented a continuous-improvement program that resulted in better work product delivered at substantially improved pace.

  • Assisted in negotiating and drafting service agreements with eDiscovery vendors.

  • Coordinated large scale eDiscovery process improvement pilot in partnership with legal tech and legal service providers to decrease spend and improve practices.

  • Led effort to improve tracking and management of materials subject to litigation holds by partnering with key departments including IT, Materials Management, and Records Management to implement collection system that linked several disparate information systems and creating automated triggers.

  • Wrote custom SQL queries and python scripts to enhance functionality of COTS litigation hold software in partnership with IBM and internal IT team. 

  • Monitored section’s performance by compiling metrics from custom reporting across multiple systems and bench marking results against other internal teams and industry standards.

  • Reviewed and approved invoices from eDiscovery service providers.

  • Supported Fortune 100 client by managing a team of 13 paralegals, discovery specialists, and vendors.

  • Assisted client in developing and implementing legal hold processes sufficient to address workload of approximately 5,000 – 7,000 annual notices across the client’s entire portfolio of legal matters.

  • Created workflows, drafted supporting documentation and templates, and developed audit processes.

  • Provided technological support for client’s legal hold platform and identified opportunities to improve client’s ROI by leveraging previously unused features. 

  • Consulted with matter stakeholders including legal teams, business-side partners, and third parties to best effectuate hold notices and to improve overall processes.  

  • Assisted client in developing in-house technological solutions including creating a custodian research application which formed the blueprint for a successor app developed by client’s Development Operations team. 

  • Performed document review using platforms, including Relativity and Catalyst for a variety of clients. 


U.S. Army Reserve

 
  • Drafted intelligence products including organizational, network, psychological, and area of operations analyses.

  • Briefed staff on current conditions and potential enemy courses of actions at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels, and advised on countermeasures.

  • Assisted in the design, planning, and execution of multimedia products and campaigns, including newspapers, magazines, billboards, and handbills, directed towards foreign-language audiences. 

  • Implemented measures of success tracking system that piped indicators and geolocation data into a GIS platform to create geographical visualizations of the impact of operations over time.
